ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team swept a 9-0 non-conference decision against Daemen on Saturday.

The Lakers won all three doubles points and then took the six singles points at stake, clinching the match when the No. 4 singles contest went in favor of Ivona Plecevic, who defeated Gretchen Ringler, 6-0, 6-1.

Plecevic and her doubles partner, Athina Tsagkaraki, outlasted Ringler and Morgan Park at third doubles for an 8-5 victory. The Laker duo has won 3 of its last 4 doubles matches.

Adrianna Jeffress and Kayla Frost (No. 6 doubles in the Atlantic Region) won an 8-0 decision over Lorissa Yuen and Giovanna Paschoalin at No. 1 doubles.

The second doubles matchup was won by Mercyhurst's Saioa Gomez de Segura and Adina Spahalic (No. 4 Atlantic doubles), who bested Jessica Robins and Christian Stasiuk, 8-0. Gomez de Segura and Spahalic are on a nine-match win streak.

Individual win streaks were extended in singles play. Gomez de Segura, ranked fourth in NCAA Division II and No. 1 in the Atlantic in singles, won her fifth straight match with a 6-3, 6-1, decision over Yuen.

Frost, Jeffress and Spahalic stretched win streaks to five at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. Frost, rated 50th in the NCAA and No. 2 in the Atlantic in singles play, defeated Paschoalin, 6-1, 6-1. Jeffress (No. 3 Atlantic singles) bested Stasiuk, 6-2, 6-1, and Spahalic blanked Robins, 6-0, 6-0.

Laker freshmen Plecevic were also singles winners. Plecevic has now won 8 of 9 after defeating Ringler, 6-0, 6-1, at fourth singles. Tsagkaraki has won four straight as she won over Park, 6-0, 6-1, at sixth singles.

The Lakers will be in action next on Wednesday at 12 p.m. when they host Salem at Westwood Racquet Club.
