The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will compete in the first inaugural women's Porreco Pride of Erie Cup against Gannon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday. For the past two seasons the Porreco Pride of Erie Cup just included to the men's contest. Jason Porreco expanded the festivities to include the women's contest as well, after seeing such success with the previous Porreco Pride of Erie Cup events.

Mercyhurst (9-16, 7-12 PSAC) are currently on a four game losing streak picking up their last win over Clarion 66-61. Gannon (10-12, 8-9 PSAC) also is in a four game rut earning their last victory over Seton Hill 61-59.

Gannon leads the all-time series between the two teams 58-30. Mercyhurst has an 18-27 record when hosting the Golden Knights. Gannon claimed the last contest between the two programs 85-57.

Mercyhurst currently sits seventh in the PSAC West, two places behind fifth ranked Gannon.

Maria Lapertosa who posts 12.6 points per game, she is followed closely by Amber Renz who has 12.5 points per game. Emilee Norris rounds out the top three with 6.8 points per game, she leads rebounds with 7.3 per game and blocks with 43 on the season.Emily Shopene leads both assists and steals with 71 and 24 respectively.

The Golden Knights have three players averaging in double-digits led by Maggie Mitchell who contributes 15.7points per game. Mitchell also leads assists on the team with 94 on the season. Chelsea Rourke and Nicole LaCava both add 11.0 points per game. Rourke leads rebound with 6.1 per game, steals with 31 and blocks with 29 on the season.
