The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will travel to California, Pa. on Wednesday to square off against No. 20 California in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action. Mercyhurst (9-15, 7-11 PSAC) are in a three game slump dropping their most recent contest to Seton Hill 65-59. California (20-4, 15-3 PSAC) is on a two game win streak earning wins over Gannon (60-52) and Pitt-Johnstown (56-54).

The last time the two teams met the Lakers upset the then No. 14 Vulcans 61-53, giving California its third loss of the season.

Emily Shopene was the Lakers' leading scorer with a career high 18 points while finishing with a team-leading three steals.Â
Jamaya Shabazz added 10 points. California was led by Shatara Parsons with a game-high 19 points. Mia Cushon earned a double-double, having 13 points and 12 rebounds. D.J. Hahn contributed ten points.

California's edge in the all-time series was cut to 26-10, the Lakers post a 4-15 record when visiting the Vulcans.
