Women's Basketball Will Welcome Kutztown On Tuesday

The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will welcome Kutztown on Tuesday and will look for its second straight win.

Who: Kutztown (3-6, 2-1) vs. Mercyhurst (2-7, 0-3)

  • The Lakers are coming off a strong win over Wheeling Jesuit by a score of 89-64. Five different Lakers were in double digits including, Lakers leading scorer Nicolete Newman (20).  Followed by, Eliza Oswalt (17), Rachel Chessar (14), Emily Shopene (11) and Amber Renz (10).
  • Against Wheeling Jesuit, the Lakers jumped out to an early 12-4 lead and never looked back after a Newman 3-pointer topping off the 8-0 run. Mercyhurst closed the first quarter and started the second quarter on an 18-0.  Oswalt led that stretch with eight points. Throughout the game the Lakers were able to increase the lead to as many as 39 points.
  • Kutztown leads the all-time series against the Lakers 5-3.  Mercyhurst at home is 2-1 against the Golden Bears and will look to make it three on Tuesday.
  • Tickets: $6 for adults, $3 for non-Mercyhurst students, free for Mercyhurst students, free for children 6-and-under.
  • Next Up: The Lakers will host PSAC opponent, Mansfield on Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 1:00 PM.
