Women's Ice Hockey Travels to Lindenwood

The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team travels to Lindenwood for a two-game weekend series on Nov. 3-4. Puck drops at 6:30 p.m. CT (7:30 p.m. EST) on Saturday and 12:30 p.m. CT (1:30 p.m. EST) on Sunday.
 
Last Time Out
The Lakers swept Penn State with a 2-1 win on Oct. 26 and a 5-4 overtime win the next day.
 
Emma Nuutinen led the Lakers with four goals and two assists on the weekend. Maggie Knott tallied one goal and one assist while K.K Thiessen and Sarah Hine recorded one goal each. Alexa Vasko picked up two assists while single assists were credited to Emily Pinto, Vilma Tanskanen, Molly Blasen, Mary Katherine Gialames, Michele Robillard and Sarah McDonnell.
 
McDonnell made a total of 56 saves in net during the weekend.
 
Previous Matchup
The Lakers and Lions met four times last season with the Lakers taking the series 3-1-0.
 
Mercyhurst traveled to Lindenwood in October bringing back a 6-1 win and 3-2 loss. In January Mercyhurst swept Lindenwood at the Mercyhurst Ice Center, winning 3-0 and 5-1.
 
Knott (2g, 3a), Sam Isbell (5a), Summer-Rae Dobson (3g, 1a), Blasen (4a), Tanskanen (3g), Hine (3a), Megan Korzack (1g, 1a), Samantha Fieseler (1g, 1a), Rachel Marmen (2a), Morgan Stacey (2a), Celine Frappier (1g), Nuutinen (1g), Robillard (1g) and Thiessen (1a) had points for Mercyhurst.
 
McDonnell had 44 saves in net while earning one shutout and a 2-1-0 record. Kennedy Blair made 14 saves.
 
Taylor Girard (2g, 1a), Cierra Paisley (2a), Shannon Morris-Reade (1g), Sierra Burt (1g), Kristen Martin (1a) and Courtney Ganske (1a) recorded points for Lindenwood.
 
Jolene deBruyn made a total of 120 saves for the Lions.
 
All-Time Series
Mercyhurst leads the all-time series 23-5-1 including a 3-2-0 edge in the past five contests.
 
Scouting Lindenwood
Lindenwood is coming into the weekend with a 1-6-1, 0-3-1 CHA record. They are coming off of a 2-2 tie and 2-0 loss to Robert Morris.
 
Burt is on top of the roster with eight points. Girard is close behind with seven points and Taylor Kirwan has six points.
 
In net, deBruyn has put forth a 1-4-1 record with a 3.11 goals against average and .918 save percentage. Sophie Wolf has a 0-2-0 record, 3.94 GAA and .875 save percentage.
 
Lindenwood is 4/27 on the power play and 24/32 on the penalty kill.

Mercyhurst comes into the weekend with a 5-5-0, 5-1-0 CHA record.
 
Nuutinen is leading the Laker roster with six goals and 11 points. Vasko, Pinto and Dobson are next with six points each. Knott is close behind with five points.
 
Between the pipes, McDonnell has earned a 5-1-0 record with a 2.31 GAA and .916 save percentage. Kennedy Blair has a 0-3-0 record, 5.01 GAA and .858 save percentage. Leah Klassen has put forth a 0-1-0 record, 4.04 GAA and .897 save percentage.

Hat Trick Club
Nuutinen recorded her first career hat trick during the Lakers' 5-4 overtime win against Penn State on Saturday. She finished the honor with the game winning goal, with five seconds left in overtime.
 
CHA Player of the Week
Nuutinen was named this week's CHA Player of the Week for her efforts during the Lakers weekend sweep of Penn State. She put forth four goals and two assists.
 
Four Nations Cup
Nuutinen was selected to Finland's Four Nations Cup roster. It marks her fifth appearance in the tournament that will be held on Nov. 6-10 in Saskatoon, Sask.
 
National Polls
Mercyhurst continues receiving votes on the USCHO.com poll for the sixth straight week with four votes. The Lakers are back on the USA Today/USA Hockey poll this week with three votes.
 
Coaching Connections
Mercyhurst assistant coach Beth Hanrahan spent the 2017-18 season as an assistant coach for Lindenwood.

The Lakers will welcome non-conference opponent Cornell on Nov. 10-11. Puck drops at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets go on sale 90 minutes before puck drop at the front desk in the lobby. Cash payments only. Mercyhurst students receive free admission with student ID. Adults are $10 while students and seniors are $5.
