Women's Basketball Falls Short on the Road at Daemen

Box Score AMHERST, NY—The Mercyhusrt women's basketball team fell short due to Daemen's second half run by a final score 74-67 on Thursday at Daemen.

Nicolete Newman led the Lakers in points with 25 including six three's followed by Eliza Oswalt's ten and Maria Lapertosa's eight points and 6 assists.

Meghan Komendarek had eight rebounds for Mercyhurst (0-3). Emily Shopene and Lapertosa both had seven boards on the night.

The Lakers were up on Daemen (2-1) in the second half unitl the Wildcats went on an 11-0 run to eventually take the lead and not look back. Down the stretch with 12 seconds left in the game the Wildcats were up four before Daemen's own Jordan Heinold iced the game with a big 3-pointer to seal the game.
The Lakers finished 24-60 from the field (40%) with Daemen shooting 40% as well. Mercyhurst was out rebounded 40-39.
 
Next Up: The Lakers will return to action on Saturday at 1:00 PM for their first home game of the season as the take on Walsh.

Tickets: $6 adults, $3 for non-Mercyhurst students, free for Mercyhurst students, free for children 6-and-under.
