Women's Basketball Loses Their Second Game At the PSAC/MEC Crossover to West Liberty 86-74

Box Score CALIFORNIA, PA—The Mercyhurst Women's Basketball team lost in their second game of the PSAC/MEC Crossover on Sunday to West Liberty 86-74. The Lakers were up by two heading into the half but couldn't stay on top being outscored 23-18 in the third and 26-17 in the fourth.

Emily Shopene had team high 17 points for the Lakers with Nicolete Newman dropping 15 and Meghan Komendarek scoring 14.

Maria Lapertosa led Mercyhurst (0-2) with 8 rebounds with eight followed by Jenna Kunst and Newman's six. Mercyhurst was able to out rebound West Liberty (1-1) 44-38. From the field, the Lakers shot 38% while the Hilltoppers shot 45%.

West Liberty's leading scorer was Taylor Johnson with 33 points who also recorded nine assists and six rebounds for the Hilltoppers.

Mercyhurst will return to action on Thursday, November 15th as they travel to Daemen.
