ERIE, Pa. -- Mercyhurst senior quarterback
Doug Altavilla threw three touchdown passes and ran in another score as the Laker football team celebrated a snowy Senior Day with a 35-14 victory over Millersville in a PSAC interdivisional contest on Saturday at Tullio Field.
Altavilla finished 12 of 24 for 228 yards, one interception and the three TDs. His primary target was a fellow senior, wide receiver
Clay Waldron, who totaled seven receptions for 150 yards and two touchdowns. The other passing touchdown was caught by another senior, tight end
Bryce Mostoller.
Running back
Fredrick Green had 17 carries for 91 yards out of the Laker backfield. Wide receiver
Austin Hence added two grabs for 50 yards.
On defense, defensive back
Alex Weimer had six total tackles and one interceptions. Lineman
Uwaila Omorogbe had a half-sack.
Seniors lined the rest of the defensive box score: defensive back
Jake Tarasovitch made five tackles and fellow DB
Dante' Redwood recorded an interception. Defensive lineman
Austin Drew and linebacker
Chris Peluso made sacks. Linebacker
Rocky Owens was credited with a half-sack.
As a unit, the defense had eight tackles-for-loss. Drew and Peluso had two apiece.
Mercyhurst (5-6) jumped ahead for a 14-0 lead with bookend scores in the first quarter. Altavilla connected with Waldron on a 21-yard pass on the opening drive. Then, on the final play of the first quarter, Altavilla scored on a 3-yard run.
Millersville had a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter, but each time, the Lakers distanced themselves. Altavilla hooked up with Waldron and Mostoller on 42- and 11-yard TD plays, respectively. After the Mostoller touchdown, Altavilla threw a two-point conversion to brother

Running back
Cortez Watson scored the last touchdown for Mercyhurst on a 5-yard run late in the fourth.
