CALIFORNIA, Pa – The Mercyhurst men's soccer team earned a 3-1 victory over Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent California, Pa., on Wednesday.

Henri Tophoven and
Alex Garcia Piles each tallied one goal for Mercyhurst (5-3-2, 2-1-2 PSAC).
Sarr started off the scoring for Mercyhurst during the ninth minute with an assist from
Hunter Burri. The Lakers took their 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Vulcans (1-5-3, 0-5-0 PSAC) came back and tied the game in the 49th minute. The tying goal was scored by Eric Campbell and assisted by Conner Griest.
Tophoven then scored the game-winning goal in the 53rd minute when he scored off of a rebound that hit the post.
With less than three minutes left in the game, Garcia Piles added an insurance goal on a penalty kick.
Martin Jarc was the winning goaltender. Lucas Exner made four saves in net for California.
Mercyhurst held a 19-6 shot advantage over California and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
The Lakers are back in action on Oct. 6 when they host Millersville at 1:30 p.m.
