Women's Volleyball Jumps Out Early But Falls Short 3-1

Box Score LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Mercyhurst volleyball team fell on the road to Lock Haven 3-1 in PSAC action on Saturday. The Lakers lost by set scores of 25-17, 20-25, 12-25, 19-25.
 
Katie Baird led the Lakers with 12 kills followed by Leah Kern's seven and Tess Ganich's six. Mary Marusza had team high 26 assists, with Alyssa Zirnheld assisting ten.
 
Hannah Vuylsteke racked up 26 digs on the defensive side for the Lakers (10-18, 5-10).
 
For Lock Haven (9-15, 4-11), Breanna McDonald paved the way for the Bald Eagles with 13 kills with Kristen Nealon playing a factor as well with 44 assists. 
 
Mercyhurst was able to jump to a 1-0 set lead but couldn't keep the momentum going losing the next three sets.
 
The Lakers will be on the road again for their next matchup against PSAC foe Gannon on Oct. 30th at 7:00 PM.
