The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will face off against Clarion in Pennsylvania State Atheltic Conference action on Wednesday. The Lakers are coming off of a major 66-61 victory over No.6 Indiana (Pa.), upsetting their second ranked team in eight days. Clarion (7-14, 2-13 PSAC) is in a nine game rut, earning their last victory over Pittsburgh-Johnstown (60-44) on December 30^th.
 
The Lakers swung the all-time series into their favor with their 79-62 victory earlier this season holding a 23-22 record against the Golden Eagles. Mercyhurst (8-12, 6-8 PSAC) holds an 8-12 record when playing Clarion in the Tippin Gymnasium.
 
Mercyhurst sits seventh in the PSAC West two spots ahead of ninth place Clarion.
 
The Lakers are led by sophomore Amber Renz who posts 13.4 points per game and adds 3.95 rebounds. Maria Lapertosa contributes 12.9 points per game, and 5.44 rebounds. Emilee Norris rounds out the top three offensive players with 6.4 points per game, she leads the team in rebounds per game with 6.65, and blocks with 30 on the season. Emily Shopene leads the team in steals with 20, she was recently named PSAC West Player of the week.
 
Clarion is led by Amesha Harden-Pullium who averages 15 points a game. Tracy Wiehe adds 9.5 points per game, while Jordan Bekejia and Yndiah Bobo each add 9.1. Wiehe leads the Golden Eagles in rebounds with 6.9 per game. Harden- Pullium, and Bekeja each have 32 steals on the season.
