Women's Basketball Stumbles Against Seton Hill

ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team fell 83-68 to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent Seton Hill on Wednesday in the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
 
Mercyhurst (6-9, 3-5 PSAC) was led by Stephanie Petery, who scored 11 points. Rachel Chessar and Vivian Allison each added eight points. Emilee Norris led rebounds with seven.
 
Seton Hill (12-4, 7-3 PSAC) had five Griffins score in double-digits -- led by Halie Torris with 16 points, Cheyenne Trest added 13 and Courtney Cecere contributed 12.  Jenna Kaufman and Alexandra Hay scored 11 points apiece.

Visiting SHU jumped out to a 26-9 lead through one quarter and held the gap in double-figures the rest of the way. The Griffins led 48-25 at halftime and then led by as many as 24 points during the second half.
 
The Griffins held an edge off the glass, outrebounding the Lakers 38-34. Mercyhurst held a slight edge in bench points, earning 38 points from non-starters to the 34 scored from Seton Hill.
 
Mercyhurst will play again next on Saturday when travel to Johnstown, Pa. to face the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown in PSAC action at 1 p.m.
