Box Score MADISON, Wisc. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team stumbled in its second-straight game against second-ranked Wisconsin, losing 5-1 Friday evening at LaBahn Arena.
The Lakers' (0-2) lone goal was scored by freshman forward
Summer-Rae Dobson. Her first collegiate goal was scored on the power play at 18:14 in the second period.
Maggie Knott and Samantha Fiesler picked up assists on the play.
Wisconsin (4-0) took advantage of Laker penalties and ended up scoring a pair power play goals to lead 2-0 after the first period before adding one more goal 4:30 into the second period.
After Dobson's goal brought the score to 3-1 through two periods, Wisconsin pulled away with two goals in the final frame.
The Badgers' Brette Pettet led all scorers with a hat trick for Wisconsin. Goaltender Kristen Campbell earned the win stopping 29 of 30 Laker shots on goal.
Sarah McDonnell made 31 saves in her first start of the season for Mercyhurst.
Mercyhurst returns to Erie for its home-opening series against sixth-ranked St. Lawrence on October 6-7. Friday's game starts at 7 p.m.
