ERIE, Pa.-- The Mercyhurst field hockey team fell 0-1 to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opponent, Millersville in overtime. Mercyhurst fell to a 4-5 overall record while coming to a 1-2 PSAC record. The Marauders move to a 5-3 overall record.
The Lakers were able to hold off a six shot offensive in half one to keep the action scoreless.
Nicolette Tomani was able to make one shot attempt for Mercyhurst in the first half. The Lakers were able to turn the offensive pressure in their favor during the second half out shooting Millersville three shots to one but were unable to convert any of them.
Millersville held the edge in corners during the first half posting five to the one granted to the Lakers. Mercyhurst was able to push back and earn four corners, to the three granted to Millersville in the second half.
Despite this second half rally the Lakers were in a 0-0 deadlock through regulation. Millersville's Alexis Gazzio scored the only goal of the game forty seconds into overtime ending the game.
Victoria Triaga was the losing goalie for the Lakers posting three saves and allwoing one goal during her time in the net.
The Lakers will compete next against Sunday when they host Converse College at 12 pm.
