                     CLARION, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst football team will play its first Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division game of the season when it visits Clarion for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
The Lakers are coming off a 25-20 road win over East Stroudsburg while Clarion is one week removed from a 31-0 home loss to Shippensburg.

THE COACHES
Marty Schaetzle (Bucknell '83) is in his 16th season as head coach for Mercyhurst. He owns a 78-90 record. He is a three-time PSAC West Coach of the Year (2008, 2010, 2014) and has coached the Lakers to two PSAC West regular-season championships (2010, 2012) and one PSAC overall title (2010). Prior to coaching at Mercyhurst, Schaetzle has held assistant coach positions at Bucknell, Shippensburg, Northern Arizona, Sonoma State, Arizona and Albany.
Chris Weibel (Clarion '98) is in his third year as head coach for his alma mater.
He has an 11-14 record. In his time at ESU, he was an assistant coach with the Golden Eagles for 11 years before moving into the head coach position.
NEXT UP
The Lakers will return home for a matchup with their cross-town rival, Gannon. The contest will occur during Mercyhurst's Homecoming Weekend on Sept. 30.
Gannon is currently 1-2 on the season. The Golden Knights opened their season with a 55-22 win at Southern Connecticut State before losses to Shippensburg (41-33 at home) and Bloomsburg (27-10 on the road). GU hosts 21st-ranked Slippery Rock in its PSAC West opener.
