The Mercyhurst field hockey team will compete twice this weekend on the road firs against (#1) East Stroudsburg on Saturday and then against Molloy College on Sunday. Mercyhurst (2-3) will begin Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Saturday against (#1) East Stroudsburg (7-1) on Saturday at 12 pm. The Lakers will then head North to take on Molloy College (0-7) in Rockville Centre, Ny. at 1 pm on Saturday.
Mercyhurst is led by sophomore,
Clare Ahern who as scored two goals and recorded three assists for a total of seven points.
Taylor Balser,
Leah Rogers, and
Nicolette Tomani trail closely each having one goal and one assist on the season.
Bryna Cook, and
Hayley Skidmore have each added one goal for the Lakers.
Victoria Triaga has been the starting goalie for the Lakers she has spent 347 minutes in the net, recording 23 saves and allowing 13 goals, against seven opponents.
The Lakers are coming off of a 2-1 lead over Indiana (Pa.), in which the Lakers scored in the last 95 seconds of play to grab the lead.
East Stroudsburg defeated the Lakers twice in the 2016 season with scores of 7-0 and 5-0. The Mercyhurst and Molloy field hockey programs have never competed against each other before and will be breaking new competitive ground.
