PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's tennis team competed in the three-team Carnegie Mellon Invitational on Friday and Saturday as the Lakers, host Tartans and Duquesne were in action.

Adrianna Jeffress racked up the Lakers' best win-loss record, compiling a 4-1 mark in singles and doubles competition. She won singles matches against a pair of CMU players, starting with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) win against Nila Ramaswamy before defeating Katie Lai, 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8).

During doubles action, Jeffress earned a win alongside Kayla Frost. The Laker pair defeated CMU's Lai and Alexandra Cash, 8-2. Later, Jeffress teamed with Saioa Gomez de Segura for a 9-7 victory against Melissa Shrome and Cori Sidell.

Gomez de Segura was 3-3, including 2-1 at singles. Her only doubles win was with Jeffress. In singles play, Gomez de Segura bested Duquesne's Laurel Shymansky, 6-4, 6-3, and Carnegie Mellon's Sidell, 6-1, 6-2.

Adina Spahalic earned a pair of victories -- one at singles and one at doubles. She won her individual match, 6-3, 6-4, versus Tyra Abdalla of DU. In pairs competitinon, Spahalic and Athina Tsagkaraki combined for an 8-5 triumph over Nila Ramaswamy and Marina Selenica of Carnegie Mellon.

Ivona Plecevic had one singles win. She defeated Duquesne's Koralie Etienne, 7-5, 7-5.

Frost was also a singles winner against CMU's Eliabeth Shultz, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8).
