ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst softball team split its doubleheader against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division competitor Slippery Rock on Saturday. The Lakers suffered a 13-2 loss in game one and claimed a 3-2 victory in game two.

Game One: Slippery Rock 13, Mercyhurst 2 (5 inn.)
Rachel DiBartolomeo hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to account for the Lakers' only runs. She batted 2-for-3.
Ellie Dougher also went 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
Heather Nye was the losing pitcher.

Slippery Rock had two big innings: five runs in the second and eight in the fifth.
Carly DeRose was the winning pitcher for Slippery Rock.
Game Two: Mercyhurst 3, Slippery Rock 2:
Winning pitcher
Anna Cochis stranded two SRU runners, including the tying run on third, while recording the game's final out to hold off a late Rock rally.
Cochis threw all seven innings, recording one strikeout and zero walks. She did not allow an earned run.
Mercyhurst manufactured its first run in the opening inning as Dougher singled, stole second base, moved to third on a sac bunt by
Cassandra Egelston and then scored on a DiBartolomeo sac fly.
The Lakers tacked on two more runs in the fifth -- one on an RBI groundout by Egelston and another on an RBI single by Teller.
The Lakers will play next on Monday when California (Pa.) visits the Mercyhurst Softball Field for a 2:30 p.m. start.
