#14 Women's Lacrosse Loses in OT at #19 IUP

INDIANA, Pa. -- The 14th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-13 overtime loss to 19th-ranked Indiana (Pa.) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Tuesday. IUP's Ally Burrows scored the game-winner.

Carly Zimmerman led the Laker effort with four goals and four draw controls while Janelle Williams contributed three goals and four draw controls.

Also for the Lakers, Lacey Netti had three goals and three caused turnovers, Kristin Anderson compiled two goals and four draw controls and Taylor Izzo totaled one goal and three assists.

Angelina Simon made an assist and Kira Kolb caused three turnovers. Goaltender Gabby Gravino finished with 10 saves.

Mercyhurst led 6-4 at halftime before the host Crimson Hawks enjoyed a 7-2 stretch of their own to grab an 11-8 lead.

The Lakers then went on their final surge of the game -- a 5-1 run -- to take a 13-12 lead with 1:36 left in the game. Anderson had two goals during that stretch. Zimmerman tied the game at 12-all with 1:50 to go before Williams put in the go-ahead goal.'

IUP found an equalizer of its own with 17 ticks on the clock as Carissa Smith evened the score at 13-13. Burrows, who finished with a team-high five goals, scored the game-winner 4:53 into extra-time.

Hawk goalie Angela Lontoc recorded 16 saves to earn the win.

The Lakers (8-4, 6-3) will return to competition on Saturday with a 1 p.m. PSAC home contest against Bloomsburg.
