The win over GU was the Lakers' fourth straight win over their Erie rivals, dating back to 2014.

Zimmerman finished with six goals, two assists, five draw controls and three groundballs while Williams was credited with five goals and two assists.

Kristin Anderson was dominant on the draw, finishing with 12 draw controls. She also had four goals.

The host Lakers (4-2, 2-1) broke an 8-8 tie with three straight goals to start the second half. That was the beginning of an 8-1 stretch for Mercyhurst in which Williams scored three times and Anderson scored twice.

After Mercyhurst pushed its lead to 16-9, Tessa Mitchell scored three consecutive goals for the visiting Knights. Gannon closed its deficit to 16-12, but could not pull any closer.

Gannon's Leilani King led all scorers with five goals, seven assists and eight draw controls. Mitchell added five goals and one assist. Charla Tate was the losing goalie.

Mercyhurst outshot Gannon, 36-27, and held a 22-17 advantage in draws. The Knights (2-5, 0-3) won the groundball battle, 17-12.

The Lakers will return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. PSAC game at Kutztown.
