#10 Women's Lacrosse Loses in OT at Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. -- The 10th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team dropped a 10-9 contest in overtime to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference opponent Seton Hill on Tuesday. SHU's Christine Palmeri scored the game-winning goal during extra-time.

Carly Zimmerman led the Lakers (2-2, 0-1) with five goals, four draw controls and two caused turnovers. Janelle Williams added two goals while Catherine Meegan and Lacey Netti put in one goal apiece. Taylor Izzo made four assists.

In goal, Gabby Gravino finished with eight saves and four groundballs. Diana Schmitt and Mackenzie Shanahan added three groundballs apiece.

Mercyhurst led on four different occasions before the host Griffins went on a 4-0 run to take a 9-7 lead in the second half. Williams pulled the Lakers within one before Zimmerman connected on the equalizer with 54 seconds remaining. Izzo assisted both goals.

Palmeri, who finished with four goals and one assist, ended the game just 11 seconds into the second OT period. Charlotte Cunningham added one goal and five assists while Keagan Pontious totaled two goals and six draw controls for Seton Hill (3-4, 1-2).

Seton Hill's Meghan Hollar was the winning goalie, finishing with seven saves.

The Lakers held a 25-24 shot advantage and 17-14 edge in groundballs while SHU was 13-9 on draws.

Mercyhurst will return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest at West Chester.
