ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team is set to visit Indiana (Pa.) in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday. 

Mercyhurst is the three-seed in the tournament while Indiana is the two-seed. The Crimson Hawks won both regular-season meetings -- 64-54 in Erie on Jan. 9 and 74-71 in Erie on Feb. 1.

The Lakers (23-6) have won three straight contests, reaching the second-highest win total in program history. They defeated Clarion, 74-46, in the PSAC first round, claiming the program's first ever PSAC Tournament win. Natalie Piaggesi had a season-high 31 points while Angela Heintz had a double-double worth 17 points and 13 rebounds.

IUP's last game was an 80-64 loss to California (Pa.) in a regular-season finale for both teams. Cal is the top-seed in the PSAC Tournament and will host four-seed Edinboro on Wednesday.

Piaggesi leads Mercyhurst in several categories including points per game (17.0), field-goal percentage (.591), blocks (2.0) and free-throw percentage (.821). She leads the PSAC in blocks while rating second in field-goal percentage, fifth in scoring and seventh in free-throw percentage.

Angela Heintz leads Mercyhurst in rebounds (7.4), assists (6.6) and steals (1.6). She averages 15.1 points. Heintz lead the PSAC in assists and ranks eighth in scoring.

Jalin Steel has an average of 10.4 points per game for the Lakers.

IUP (20-6) is led in scoring by Megan Smith, who averages 14.3 points per game. Carolyn Appleby adds 13.7, Lauren Woloski contributes 12.9 and Brittany Robinson records 10 points on average.

Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
