Men's Basketball Falls At Mansfield

MANSFIELD, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team suffered a 64-55 loss to Mansfield in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play on Sunday.

Malcolm Walters led Laker scorers with 15 points and five rebounds while Lorenzo Collier contributed 14 points.

Jeremiah Worthem led the Mansfield effort with 21 points. Matt Tamanosky added 12 points and Tyler Moffee put in 11. Malik Carter and Cedrick Powell grabbed seven rebounds each.

Mansfield jumped out to a 10-4 lead before the Lakers closed their deficit to 12-10 on a Collier three-pointer. The hosts then responded with a 12-2 run, widening the gap to 24-12.

Mercyhurst (4-3, 2-2) scored the final five points of the opening half as Mansfield (3-3, 3-1) went into halftime with a 32-30 lead. Mansfield held the lead through the second half.

Mercyhurst was 22 of 59 from the field (37.3 percent) and 10 of 29 from three (34.5) while Mansfield finished 23 of 44 from the floor (52.3).

The Lakers will return to action on Saturday with a PSAC contest at West Chester.
