Box Score ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team came up short Saturday afternoon in a 4-3 loss against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Mercyhurst (3-9-2) trailed 4-1 halfway through the second period before scoring twice to pull within one with 13:12 to play. The Lakers had a few chances late in the third but couldn't convert despite outshooting RPI 19-10 in the third and 40-33 for the game.
RPI (5-7-3) led 2-1 after the first period and 4-2 at the end of the second period. Lakers' forward
Céline Frappier scored her first of the season at 5:10 in the first period to tie the game at one.
After RPI rattled off three-straight scores to lead 4-1,
Samantha Fieseler pulled the Lakers within two on her second of the season at 15:14.
Sam Isbell kept the Laker momentum going in the third period at 6:48 to cut RPI's lead to one. Isbell extended her point streak to three games with the goal.
After earning a split this weekend, the Lakers return to College Hockey America play in their next series when they travel to Robert Morris Dec. 1-2. Friday's game begins at 7:05 p.m. with Saturday's start set for 5:05 p.m.
