The women's basketball team will host both Cheyney and Millersville in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The Lakers are coming into this weekend of competition after going winless during the PSAC vs MEC challenge dropping contests against Notre Dame (Ohio) 74-72, and West Liberty 76-55. These two games will mark the first PSAC games of the year for Mercyhurst.
The Lakers are led by
Maria Lapertosa who has posted 40 points this season,
Amber Renz follows closely behind with 39 points, and
Meghan Komendarek has contributed 10. Renz is the leading rebounder of the squad she has pulled down 16, Lapertosa has claimed 15 and
Jamaya Shabazz has grabbed 13.
CHEYNEY (0-2) SATURDAY, 1 PM:
Cheyney enters this contest in two game rut after dropping games to John C. Smith, and Elizabeth City State. The Wolves also fell in an exhibition to Morgan State.
Cheney's top scorers are Takayla Ellis, and Gianni Hill both of which have scored 17 points. Yasmine Dorrielan is the leading rebounder with 24.
The Lakers defeated Cheyney 63-45 in the 2016-17 season.
MILLERSVILLE (1-1) SUNDAY, 1 PM:
Millersville comes to this weekends compeition on a after splitting last weekend in a conference challenge defeating Virginia Wise (56-47) but falling to #2 Virginian Union (43-87).
Alayah Hall is the leading scoring for the Marauders with 21 points. Kendra Bamberger leads the rebound category with 25.
The Lakers defeated Millersville in the 2016-17 season 60-45.
