Football To Make Short Trip South To Edinboro

THE GAME
The Mercyhurst football team will visit Edinboro for a 2 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division matchup. The Fighting Scots will be celebrating their Homecoming.

Both teams are coming off losses, which occurred across town from one another. Mercyhurst suffered a 31-28 home loss to then-12th-ranked Slippery Rock while Edinboro lost at Gannon, 47-25.

THE COACHES
Marty Schaetzle (Bucknell '83) is in his 16th season as head coach for Mercyhurst. He owns a 80-91 record. He is a three-time PSAC West Coach of the Year (2008, 2010, 2014) and has coached the Lakers to two PSAC West regular-season championships (2010, 2012) and one PSAC overall title (2010). Prior to coaching at Mercyhurst, Schaetzle has held assistant coach positions at Bucknell, Shippensburg, Northern Arizona, Sonoma State, Arizona and Albany.

Wayne Bradford (Salisbury State '90) is the interim head coach for Edinboro. He has a 3-3 record. Bradford has coached 19 seasons at Edinboro, including 10 as the defensive coordinator. He has worked with the defensive line and linebackers during his tenure. Bradford began his coaching career at alma mater Salisbury State.

NEXT UP
The Lakers will return home for a 12 p.m. PSAC West contest against Seton Hill. SHU is currently 0-6 on the season and 0-3 in PSAC West competition. The Griffins will host Gannon on Saturday.
