INDIANA, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will visit Indiana (Pa.) for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference matchup on Wednesday.
The Lakers (16-4, 11-3), who are a half-game behind third-place IUP (14-5, 12-3) in the league standings, fell at home to the Crimson Hawks, 64-54, on Jan. 9.
Mercyhurst has lost two straight -- against California (Pa.) and Edinboro -- while IUP has consecutive wins over Seton Hill and Gannon.
Natalie Piaggesi, the PSAC's top shot-blocker with 2.2 swats per game, leads Mercyhurst in scoring with 16.2 points while rating second on the squad with an average of 6.9 rebounds. She rates fifth in the PSAC in scoring and third in field-goal percentage (.576).
Angela Heintz leads Mercyhurst in several categories, including rebounds (7.0), assists (6.2) and steals (1.7). She ranks second in the PSAC in assists, sixth in scoring and ninth in field-goal percentage (.431).
Megan Smith, Carolyn Appleby and Lauren Wolosik all average double-figures in scoring for the Crimson Hawks. Smith leads scoring and rebounds with an average of 14.5 points and 5,8 rebounds. Appleby and Wolosik average 13.2 and 11.5 points,respectively.
