EDINBORO, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's basketball will visit Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
Mercyhurst (16-3, 11-2) is looking to rebound from a 68-66 loss to No. 6-ranked California (Pa.) while EUP (16-3, 12-1) itself is coming off a loss -- a 69-58 decision against Slippery Rock.
Mercyhurst currently sits in third place -- one game behind PSAC West leaders Edinboro and Cal.
The Lakers have reached their highest win total since 1996-97, when the program finished 17-9. Mercyhurst also has the program's second-best start through 19 games (Mercyhurst was 17-2 in 1988-89).
Angela Heintz leads Mercyhurst in several categories, including points per game (16.7), rebounds (6.9), assists (6.4) and steals (1.7). She ranks second in the PSAC in assists, fifth in scoring and ninth in field-goal percentage (.436).
Natalie Piaggesi, the PSAC's top shot-blocker with 2.2 swats per game, also averages 16.2 points and 6.8 rebounds. She rates sixth in the PSAC in scoring and third in field-goal percentage (.580).
Katie Fischer leads Edinboro scoring with an average of 14.4 points per game while ranking fifth in the PSAC in assists (4.7). Ciara Rosten and Michelle Jahn average 11.5 and 10.3 points per game, respectively.
