EDINBORO, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University softball team was blanked in two games at Edinboro Sunday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division play. The Lakers fell 2-0 in game one, while dropping a 4-0 decision in game two. With the losses, Mercyhurst falls to 11-17 overall and 4-12 in league play.

Tawney Godin led Mercyhurst at the plate, going 2-for-3, while
Francesca Costanzo recorded the third Laker hit.
The Fighting Scots scored early on in the bottom of the first on a single by Olivia Jankowski. Edinboro would add an insurance run in the fifth, when a passed ball attempt allowed Kylie Mason to score from third.
Edinboro pitcher Carly Nasca (W, 5-6) blanked the Lakers in game one, pitching all seven innings, allowing only three hits and struck out three.

Heather Nye (L, 3-8) also pitched a phenomenal game, throwing all six innings, allowing six hits, striking out three and only let up one earned run.
Game Two | Mercyhurst 0, Edinboro 4
The Lakers failed to get a run across the plate against the Fighting Scots starting pitcher Amanda Metz.
Metz (W, 1-0) held the Lakers to just five hits in seven innings, while
Portia McBride (L, 1-3) pitched all six innings for the Lakers. McBride struck out five batters, but allowed six hits and four runs, all earned.
Shannon Minihane recorded the only extra base hit of the day, as she ripped a double to left field in the third inning with no one on and two outs.

Mercyhurst is scheduled to rematch Edinboro at Mercyhurst Softball Field for another doubleheader Friday, April 22. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
