TIFFIN, Ohio -- The 12th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team rolled to an 18-10 victory over Tiffin in non-conference play on Sunday.
Grace Lawson and
Janelle Williams were leading point-getters for the Lakers (2-1), totaling three goals and one assist each. Winning goaltender
Bella Corieri made five saves.
Kristin Anderson,
Kyla Keefe,
Olivia Keirn,
Morgan Parker and
Carly Zimmerman added two goals apiece for Mercyhurst. Single goals were recorded by
Taylor Izzo and
Emily Koestler.
Anderson, Izzo, Keefe, Keirn and
Emily Gebhardt also had one assist each. Keefe picked up six draw controls.
The Lakers jumped to a 5-0 run to start the game -- led by three goals from Larson. Another five-goal run -- this one to close the first half -- helped MU to an 11-3 halftime lead. Keefe scored twice during that half-ending surge.
In the second half, Parker and Williams connected for two goals apiece during a 7-1 Laker stretch, which helped the visitors put the game out of reach, 18-5. Tiffin then scored the game's last five goals.
The host Dragons (1-3) were led by Gina Abulone, who finished with three goals and four assists. Goalie Kat Schneeberger stopped 14 shots.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Wednesday with a 3 p.m. non-conference game at Shepherd.
