ERIE, Pa. --
Taylor Izzo and
Janelle Williams scored three goals each as the seventh-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team cruised past Gannon for a 16-7 victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.
Izzo, who had an assist, and
Carly Zimmerman, who finished with two goals and two assists, tied for the team lead in points.
Kristin Anderson and
Emily Gebhardt added two goals and one assist apiece. Anderson also picked up 12 draw controls.
Olivia Keirn,
Emily Koestler,
Grace Lawson and
Morgan Parker contributed one goal each for Mercyhurst (6-1, 3-0), which stretched its winning streak to five games.
Lawson and
Amy Hoffman had one assist each. Koestler and Lawson picked up five groundballs each while
Kristina Roberti caused four turnovers.
Winning goaltender
Gabby Gravino made eight saves.
For Gannon (4-4, 1-2), Ashley Mozingo led the way with five goals. Kat Martinelli stopped 10 shots in the cage.
The Lakers used a five-goal run in the first half -- led by two goals from Izzo -- to take a 6-1 lead. They remained in the lead the rest of the way.
Mercyhurst held a 34-17 shot advantage and 20-5 edge in draw controls.
The Lakers will return to action on Saturday with an 11 a.m. home PSAC contest against Kutztown.
