ERIE, Pa. -- Mercyhurst's Emily Gebhardt scored the game-winning goal as the 11th-ranked Laker women's lacrosse team came back from a four-goal deficit to defeat West Chester, 9-8 in double-overtime during Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Tullio Field.

Gebhardt was Mercyhurst's leading scorer, finishing with two goals and one assist. She scored both goals during the Lakers' rally, which involved MU climbing back from an 8-4 deficit.

Janelle Williams also had two goals while Taylor Izzo, Grace Lawson, Kyla Keefe, Olivia Keirn and Carly Zimmerman tallied single goals for Mercyhurst (5-1, 2-0). Zimmerman and Kristin Anderson had assists.

Kristina Roberti led the Lakers in groundballs, finishing with five. Winning goaltender Gabby Gravino made nine saves.

Also, Anderson controlled seven draws, Zimmerman had five draw controls and three caused turnovers, Izzo caused three turnovers and Gebhardt grabbed four groundballs.

The Lakers scored the game's first two goals before the visiting Golden Rams (5-1, 1-1) took the lead with a five-goal run. WCU held a 6-3 halftime lead and, in the second half, pushed its advantage to 8-4 before the Lakers' furious comeback.

Keefe, Gebhardt and Zimmerman led the charge back, combining for three goals in 49 seconds. Lawson tied the contest with 1:06 into regulation, setting the stage for Gebhardt's winner with seven seconds remaining in the second overtime period (5:53 into OT).

Erin Eckert was the Rams' leading point-getter with two goals and one assist. Ashley Pyle and Sami Barnett added two goals apiece in support of goalie Paige Mitros, who had 10 saves.

For Mercyhurst, the victory was its second OT win during the week; the Lakers defeated Seton Hill, 12-11, on Tuesday in a four-overtime game.

The Lakers will be in action next when they visit cross-town rival Gannon for a 4 p.m. PSAC contest on Wednesday.
