ERIE, Pa. The Mercyhurst University women's basketball team, fresh off their win at rival Gannon Wednesday, will look to take down their other neighboring foe Edinboro Saturday at McComb Fieldhouse. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Round matchup is set to tip-off at 1:00 p.m.
The Lakers are making their first PSAC Tournament appearance since 2012-13, when Mercyhurst fell to the hands of IUP, 62-56. This will be Mercyhurst's third trip the tournament since joining the conference back in 2008-09.
Mercyhurst will look to avenge two losses to Edinboro from the regular season, and are seeking their first win at McComb Fieldhouse since 2001-02. The Lakers went on to defeat the Fighting Scots on the 22nd of January, 78-73, that year. Mercyhurst is 3-24 all-time at Edinboro.
The Last time the Lakers faced-off against Edinboro in the PSAC Tournament was 2010-11, when Mercyhurst lost to the Fighting Scots, 75-51.
The following season, Mercyhurst would come up with one of the biggest wins in program history, as they defeated, then ranked #2, Edinboro at the MAC, 59-58, in overtime.
Edinboro holds the all-time series lead, 41-10.
