Emily Gebhardt and
Grace Lawson had five goals and two assist each as the 13th-ranked Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-7 non-conference victory over Saint Thomas Aquinas on Saturday.
Kristin Anderson added three goals, two assists and 10 draw controls while winning goalie
Gabby Gravino stopped six shots for the Lakers (1-0), who scored the game's first three goals and led the entire way.
Janelle Williams added two goals while
Taylor Izzo,
Olivia Keirn,
Kristina Roberti and
Carly Zimmerman contributed one goal apiece. Zimmerman also had an assist.
In the groundball department, Mercyhurst was credited with 13 -- led by two each by Gravino, Roberti,
Emily Koestler and
Morgan Parker.
The Spartans were led by Katherine Borriello and Sabrina Prestano, who scored two goals each. Goaltender Kaitlyn Lonergan had 12 saves.
The Lakers will be in action next on Sunday, Feb. 28, when they visit second-ranked Le Moyne for a 1 p.m. draw.
