ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball game suffered a 69-57 loss to East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition on Sunday at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
Durrell McDonald had 15 points and eight rebounds while
John Majors chipped in with 11 points for the Lakers (4-3, 2-2).
For ESU (6-3, 4-0), Quindell Brice had 19 points, Rasheed Moore contributed 12 points and seven rebounds, and Kitt Najee Walls grabbed seven rebounds.
The back-and-forth contest included 10 lead changes, finishing with an 11-0 East Stroudsburg run that gave it the lead for good. Brice led the way with nine points during that charge, which turned a 52-49 Laker lead into a 60-52 deficit for the hosts.
After holding that 52-49 advantage with 5:26 to go, Mercyhurst stumbled the rest of the way, going 2 of 6 from the field and 1 of 3 from the free-throw line while committing five turnovers.
For the game, the Lakers outshot ESU. Mercyhurst was 25 of 52 (48.1 percent), although it struggled from three-point land (2 of 9, 22.2 percent) and the line (5 of 10, 50.0 percent). The Warriors were 21 of 54 from the field (38.9), 4 of 15 from three-point territory (26.7) and 23 of 33 from the line (69.7) while outrebounding the Lakers, 37-30.
Mercyhurst will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 10, when it hosts West Chester for a 3 p.m. PSAC matchup.
