LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst men's basketball team dropped a 71-56 decision to Lock Haven in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition on Friday.
John Majors was the Lakers' leading scorer with 13 points while
Durrell McDonald,
Lorenzo Collier and
Malcolm Walters put in 12, 11 and 10 points, respectively. Collier also had five rebounds while DaJuan Dent grabbed seven boards.
For host Lock Haven (6-4, 2-4), Amir Hinton compiled a double-double worth 19 points and 12 rebounds. Ra'eese Hunt added 17 points and Khaleeq Campbell contributed 11 points.
The game featured eight lead changes with Mercyhurst's last lead coming with 9:52 remaining in the contest. The Lakers were up, 49-47, before the host Bald Eagles closed the game with a 24-7 stretch. Lock Haven ended the gamed on a 15-2 run.
The Eagles outrebounded Mercyhurst, 39-26, and had a sizeable field-goal advantage. LHU finished 23 of 43 from the field (53.5 percent) and 21 of 24 from the free-throw line (87.5) while the Lakers went 23 of 63 (36.5) and 5 of 13 (38.5), respectively.
The Lakers (5-5, 3-3) will return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 3, with a 7:30 p.m. PSAC contest aginst Slippery Rock.
