PRINCETON, N.J. – The Mercyhurst women's hockey team dropped its third-straight game with a 5-2 loss to the Princeton Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
Princeton took immediate control of the game in the first minute with two goals in 44 seconds. The Tigers' Karlie Lund scored the game's first goal 18 seconds in. Her goal was followed 26 seconds by another Princeton goal, this time by Cassidy Tucker, to extend the Tiger lead 2-0. Princeton wasn't finished there, as Tucker added another goal at the 14:41 to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

Mercyhurst cut into the three-goal lead with one minute remaining in the first period. Jillian Skinner scored her first goal of the season with an assist to Paige Horton to make it 2-1 just before the conclusion of the first period.

The next two goals of the game belonged to Princeton to put the Tigers ahead by four. Molly Contini scored at the 14:25 mark, followed less than a minute later by Kelsey Koelzer at 15:21. The pair of goals set Princeton ahead 5-1.

Rachel Smith added a second goal for Mercyhurst before the end of the period. Her sixth goal of the season was scored with 2:11 remaining in the period to make the score 5-2.
A scoreless third period sealed the win for Princeton and handed Mercyhurst its 13th loss of the season. Mercyhurst did have more shots on goal than Princeton for the game (33-28), but were only able to score twice against Princeton goaltender Steph Neatby.
