Box Score ERIE Pa. – The Mercyhurst volleyball team defeated the Cheyney Wolves, in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action on Saturday, November 5th. The Lakers went out to claim victories in the first three set with decisive scores of (25-9) in sets one and three, while set two was won by a score of (25-18). This victory elevates the Lakers overall record to 15-11, while rising to 7-8 in the PSAC.
 
The top scorer for the Lakers was junior, opposite, Kyla Miles, who recorded eight kills. Sophomore, middle blocker, Alyssa Kling was the secondary scorer for Mercyhurst with seven. Freshman, middle blocker, Leah Kern was the third top scorer registering six kills. Assisting these point scorers were junior, setter, Abby Rose with 18 assists, and freshman, setter, Mary Marusza with ten. There were six aces from the service line from the Lakers, Rose picked up three of them while, sophomore Larissa Cass, freshman Tess Ganich, and Marusza had one each. On the defensive side of the ball senior Samantha Giardina and sophomore Ashley Cobile, lead the team in digs with seven a piece. Six block assists were divided amongst six players on the team. Kling registered two, while Junior Deanna Coll, freshman Katie Baird, Miles, and Kern all registered one.
 
The Lakers are scheduled to take the court next, away, against cross town rival Gannon November 11th, at 7:00 PM.
