Box Score ERIE Pa. – The Mercyhurst volleyball team defeated West Chester University in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action Friday, November 4th. The Lakers made a raging come back after losing the first set (23-25) to claim the next three sets with scores of (25-22) in set one, (25-19) in set two, and (25-21) in set three. This win pushes the Lakers overall record to (14-11), while jumping to (6-8) in the PSAC. Also on Mercyhurst celebrated senior night tonight honoring the six seniors on the team; Sarah Wegrzyn, Sarah Puckett, Haley Adams, Lauren Kenny, Hannah Tombaugh, and Samantha Giardina.
 
The three leading point scorers for the Lakers were from the senior class Kenny led with 12 kills, followed closely by Wegrzyn, and Adams both recording 10. The third kill that Wegrzyn recorded today put her at the 1,000 career kill mark, an honor only received by seven other people in program history. Puckett was the fourth highest point scorer on the team, receiving eight kills, and also having two aces from the service line. Assisting these leading scorers were Tombaugh having 24 on the match, followed by
Makayla Mollé, aiding the Lakers on 19 kills. Other notable scores from the Lakers were juniors Abbey Rose and Molle' each having three aces a piece throughout the match.  On the defensive side of the ball Giardina led the team in digs with 17, followed by Wegrzyn with 14 and Puckett with 10. Another contributing factor to the Lakers victory was their presence at the net, having 24 block assists on the match. These blocks were led by Kenny with nine, Adams with eight, while Wegrzyn, Puckett, and Chesko all having one a piece.
 
The Lakers are scheduled to take the court November 5th, for their final home match against Cheyney University, at 1 PM.
