ERIE, Pa. - The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will start their season off Friday, November 11th - 12th, by hosting their first event of the year. The Laker women will host three colleges from two different athletic conferences. The visiting team will be from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, California University(Pa.). The other two teams hail from the Mountain East Athletic Conference, Norte Dame College of Ohio, and West Liberty University.

The Lakers coming off of a strong finish to last years season boast a returning six members from the junior class. These pllayers will be the nucleus of this year's team as all six will look to make significant contributions. The team will lead by two returning juniors outstanding seniors Angela Heintz (First team, All PSAC West) and Natalie Piaggesi (Second team, All PSAC West). Joining them are the remainder of returning starters from last year Jalin Steel, Alex Artise, and Jessica Bell. The Lakers added four women to the team in the latest recruiting class, Stephanie Petery, Lauren Lapertosa, Kori Sidwell and Amber Renz.

The Lakers are scheduled to play two games throughout the weekend, the first being at 8 PM Friday night against West Liberty Hill Toppers. Then on Saturday afternoon, against Notre Dame College of Ohio at 5 PM.
