Box Score 2 CHAROLETTE Nc. – The Mercyhurst field hockey team traveled to North Carolina to play against Belmont Abbey University, and Queens University of Charlotte on October 29 – 30th. Despite having two games scheduled the Lakers only played one sanctioned game, against Queens University, as well as a, scrimmage against Belmont Abbey.
The Laker's won the Saturday October 29th scrimmage against Belmont Abbey 4-2, all the goals coming in the first half. Both
Katie Lechner, and
Alexis Skibitsky scored unassisted on the plays. While
Emily Burns scored her goal off of a penalty corner. The last scorer for the Lakers was,
Bryna Cook, assisted by
Abby D'Amato.
Sam Takac was credited with nine saves for her efforts in the net. Unfortunately being an unsanctioned event the statistics for this game, do not get reflected in the overall statistics or record.
The Lakers had a hard fought match Sunday October 30th but came up short against Queens University losing 3-2. This loss for the Lakers pushes them to 3-15 on the season. The Lakers managed to rip shots on net eight times throughout the contest only two of which were converted into scoring plays.
Alexis Skibitsky scored unassisted in the last five minutes of the first half on an unassisted play, after stealing the ball and scoring one on one with the goalkeeper. The other scorer for the Lakers was
