ERIE, Pa. -- The Mercyhurst football team suffered a 45-16 loss to Edinboro in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division action on Saturday at Tullio Field.
Running back
Richie Sanders had 17 carries for 119 yards and one touchdown. He also had three receptions for 34 yards, one kickoff return for 26 yards and two punt returns for 11 yards as he finished with 190 all-purpose yards.
For the Laker defense, linebacker Jacob Plonski had seven total tackles, including one for-loss. Defensive backs
Akeel Marsh and
Tarique Ellis added six total tackles apiece.
Defensive back
Dorian Stevens forced a fumble. Fellow DB
Emmanuel McDowell had a fumble recovery.
Also for Mercyhurst (2-5, 1-3), defensive lineman
Theophilus Blackston III had one sack while fellow lineman
Benji Abercrombie and linebacker
Chris Peluso combined on a sack.
The Fighting Scots (6-1, 3-1) were led by quarterback Jake Sisson, who completed 28 of 42 passes for 435 yards and four touchdowns. Three of his receivers finished with more than 100 yards. Four different EUP receivers had touchdowns.
The Lakers will return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 22, with a 4 p.m. PSAC West game at Seton Hill.
