ERIE, Pa. --
Sam Isbell scored her first collegiate goal, helping the Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team pull even with a 1-1 tie against sixth-ranked North Dakota during Saturday's non-conference action at the Mercyhurst Ice Center.
Isbell found the net with 4:12 remaining in regulation, receiving assists from
Brooke Hartwick and
Megan Whiddon.
UND's Anna Kilponen had scored the visitors' goal in the first period on the power play. She had assists from Kayla Gardner and Jordan Hampton.
Mercyhurst goaltender
Jessica Convery finished with 23 saves while Lexie Shaw stopped 26 shots for the Fighting Hawks (1-0-1).
The Lakers outshot the Hawks, 27-24. UND was 1-for-6 on the power play while MU finished 0-for-6.
Mercyhurst (0-1-1) will return to action on Oct. 14-15 with a pair of home contests against fourth-ranked Quinnipiac.
