ERIE, Pa. -- Adrienne Kloecker hit the go-ahead jumper with 1.7 seconds remaining, helping the Mercyhurst women's basketball team to a 49-46 victory over Lock Haven in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.

Jessica Bell was the Lakers' leading scorer, finishing with 10 points. Kloecker and Angela Heintz added nine points apiece while Natalie Piaggesi and Jalin Steel put in eight each. Piaggesi also had 10 rebounds for Mercyhurst, which went 14 of 15 from the free-throw line (93.3 percent).

Rachel McDaniel had 13 points to lead Lock Haven. Mackenzie Livingston chipped in with 11 points and four steals. Lisa Mealing hauled down 14 rebounds. LHU was also strong from the charity stripe, making all 12 of its attempts.

Mercyhurst took an early 12-7 lead before nine consecutive Lock Haven points helped the Eagles to a 16-12 advantage through one quarter. The Lakers (7-9, 5-5) opened the second period with a 12-0 streak, eventually taking a 28-22 lead into halftime.

The hosts led through the third period before an 8-0 LHU run helped the Bald Eagles take a 40-38 lead in the fourth. Lock Haven held the lead or was in a tie until Piaggesi made two free throws with 1:09 remaining, tying the contest at 44-all.

Steel hit one of two freebies with 32 seconds left as Mercyhurst grabbed a 45-44 edge. Livingston answered with Lock Haven's final points, making a layup with 23 seconds on the clock and setting the stage for Kloecker's winner.

The Lakers will return to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at PSAC opponent Pitt-Johnstown.
