SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Mercyhurst women's ice hockey team suffered a 2-0 loss to Syracuse in College Hockey America action on Friday.

Goaltender Sarah McDonnell stopped 26 shots in net for the Lakers (9-8-4, 6-1-2).

Nicole Ferrara and Emily Costales scored the SU goals. Ferrara connected on the power play in the second period before Costales provided an insurance goal in the third.

Jenn Gilligan made 16 saves for the Orange (10-10-3, 6-1-2).

Syracuse outshot Mercyhurst, 28-16, and went 1-for-4 on the power play. The Lakers were 0-for-3 on power plays.

The same two teams will meet again Saturday at 3:05 p.m.
