#6 Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Slippery Rock Wednesday Night, 11-9

ERIE, PA – The #6 Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team fell to Slippery Rock University Wednesday night by a score of 11-9. Mackenzie Jordan lead the Laker attack, bringing home 3 goals for the game.

Mercyhurst scored their first goal of the game when Taylor Ventre scored unassisted at 15:30. Trailing 2-1, Rebecca Himes was able to score her lone goal of the game with 7:52 left to round out the scoring for the Lakers attack in the first half.

Mercyhurst found themselves on a three goal scoring streak to kickstart the scoring momentum in the second half. Quick goals came from seniors Jenna Schlagenhauf, Jordan, and Hannah Corton. Slippery Rock answered back with five goals of their own before Olivia Keirn found the back of the net at 7:06.

With just under four minutes left in the game, junior Emily Gebhardt and Mackenzie Jordan were able to score two goals and tie the game at 8. The Rock scored three more goals as Jordan scored her third and final goal of the game with three seconds left in the match, but it was not enough to take the win.

The squad returns to the field this coming Saturday, 4/25 versus Shippensburg University. It is Senior Day, and the game will begin at 11:00am on Tullio Field immediately following the senior recognition ceremony.
