DAHLONEGA, GA. – The Mercyhurst softball team is set to travel south to partake in the 2015 Captain D's Surf and Turf Classic this weekend. The host team, North Georgia, has invited four others schools along with Mercyhurst to create the six team classic. The other teams playing this weekend are Catawba, Lincoln Memorial, McKendree, and Wayne State.

Mercyhurst is set for double-header actions both Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8. They will kick off the classic by playing the first game at 9:00 am against McKendree. Mercyhurst will be playing as the away team in game one. In game two on Saturday, the Lakers will face-off against the host North Georgia at 3:00 pm. Mercyhurst will be announced as the home team against the Nighthawks.
Sunday, the Lakers will again start off the day playing the first game at 9:00 am when they face Wayne State. Mercyhurst will be the away team in game one. They will be listed as the home team later in the afternoon at 1:00 pm, when they play McKendree for the second time.
The Lakers haven't played since early February in Hickory, North Carolina. They were participants in the Lenoir-Rhyne Tournament, where they went 1-3 in two days. They defeated Lees-McRae in game two of their double-header on Saturday, February 7, 8-0.
Rachel DiBartolomeo led off the game hitting an inside the park homerun to set the tone, as
Alexandra Puckly received the win pitching six innings and only allowing four hits in a shutout performance.

Kayla Larson, and Puckly each had two Runs Batted In (RBI) to conclude day one.
