ERIE, PA – The #8 Mercyhurst women's lacrosse team lost 10-9 to #7 Le Moyne College on Sunday afternoon at Tullio Field. Both teams proved to be strong contenders during their first game of the season, pushing their limits in a tough overtime battle.

Le Moyne opened up the scoring, with their first goal at 25:38 in the first half. From then on, the two teams fought back and forth capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Emily Gebhardt, Jenna Schlagenhauf, Hannah Corton, and Becca Himes each recorded two goals during this contest. Midfielder, Regan Kaestner, added a goal into the mix as well.

Mercyhurst was leading the second half 8-7, but Le Moyne attacker Erica Geremia found the back of the net with eight seconds left in the game to send the contest into overtime. As weather conditions worsened, Le Moyne was able to pick up another two goals to make the game 10-8. The Lakers found one last opportunity in Gebhardt who was able to score with 21 seconds left in the match.

The Lakers return to the field hosting two games this coming weekend. The squad plays Tiffin University on 3/6 at 4:00pm and University of Findlay on 3/8 at 12:00pm.
