ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst women's basketball team will begin a three game home stand Saturday against Edinboro in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division contest. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center (MAC). The Lakers come into the game with an 8-15 overall record and are 5-12 in PSAC play. The Fighting Scots come in at 15-6, 12-5 PSAC.
 
Before the game, join the Mercyhurst University Department of Athletics, when they celebrate the 2015 National Girls and Women in Sports Day. All girls in grades K-8 receive free admission to the event, which begins with pre-game activities in the REC center at 11:30 a.m. There will be interactive stations that will allow kids the opportunity to participate in various events along with the women's sports teams. After a loss on the road at Slippery Rock, 70-63, the Lakers look to rebound against the Fighting Scots of Edinboro. Mercyhurst let a nine point halftime lead slip away at The Rock, as Angela Heintz led the team in scoring with 18 points on 4-16 shooting from the field and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds. In the first half, the Lakers shot 47.1% and fell dramatically in the second, shooting only 17.9%. Of their 21 field goals, 16 were assisted. The teams high for assists in a game was 27 against Edinboro earlier this season.
 
Edinboro comes into to Saturday's game off an overtime win over Gannon, 55-54. Nicole Johnson scored the game-winner with 15 seconds to play, as she went on to tie her career-high in points with 12. Aignee Freeman, Edinboro's leading scorer, led the Fighting Scots with a game-high 16 points and 11 rebounds. Edinboro leads the PSAC in three point field goal percentage, averaging 39.5% shooting from behind the arc this season and is second in field goal percentage (43.0%).    
 
Earlier this season, the Lakers lost at McComb Field House to the Fighting Scots, 91-64. Mercyhurst's last win over Edinboro came in the 2011-12 season at the MAC, 59-58, in overtime.
