ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst University women's basketball team welcomes Clarion to the Mercyhurst Athletic Center at 1:00 p.m. Saturday's contest will be the Play4Kay game and members of the athletics community will be canvassing the stands for donations. In addition to the donations, all ticket revenue will be given to the Kimball Family Foundation.

The Lakers are 8-17 overall and 5-14 in the PSAC West, while the Golden Eagles, under first-year head coach Jana Ashley, are 2-21 overall and 1-17 in the PSAC West.
Both teams are coming off of loses over the weekend.
Mercyhurst fell to #13 Indiana (Pa.) Saturday at home despite having
Natalie Piaggesi and
Angela Heintz combine for 44 of the Lakers 59 points, while Clarion dropped a 79-44 decision at home to Gannon with Mollie Sebald scoring a game-high 16 points for the Golden Knights.
This is the second meeting this season between the teams. Mercyhurst took home a 53-41 win at Clarion January 14 behind 12 points from both
Jessica Bell and
Alex Artise and six rebounds from Piaggesi and Artise. Mercyhurst also got seven points, two rebounds and two assists from
Adrienne Kloecker.
Piaggesi leads the Lakers in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.8 points and seven rebounds. She has recorded seven doubles-doubles and one triple-double thus far this season. Piaggesi is one of 11 who has accomplished the feat of a triple-double this year.
Also for Mercyhurst, Kloecker adds 11.8 points per game, while Artise provides 8.0 points per contest and 4.4 rebounds – second highest on the team.
Tania Holmes paces Clarion averaging 15.8 points, who is the sixth leading scorer in the PSAC. Delrika Jones-Carey chips in 11.4 points per game and leads the team in rebounding, averaging 7.9 a game.
The Lakers are still in contention for the sixth spot in the Western Division race with three games remaining. Coach
Deanna Richard is looking to get her team back to the PSAC Tournament for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign.
After Saturday, Mercyhurst is on the road at Pitt-Johnstown at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
